Application for FCRA

The Foreign Contribution (regulation) Act, 2010 is an act of the Parliament of India, by the 42nd Act of 2010. It is a consolidating act whose scope is to regulate the acceptance and utilization of foreign contribution or foreign hospitality by certain individuals or associations or companies and to prohibit acceptance and utilization of foreign contribution or foreign hospitality for any activities detrimental to the national interest and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

For acquiring contributions or grants from foreign sources, the FCRA registration is necessarily essential. Every country recommends FCRA registration with the concerned governmental department or authority, to facilitate the receipt of foreign funds and contributions by NGOs registered in India.

Eligibility Criteria for Registration under FCRA Act:

  • Any Association/NGO wishing to receive foreign contribution (FC) must have a definite cultural, economic, educational, religious or social programme.
  • Existence of at least three years.
  • At least Rs.10, 00,000/- over a period of three years, in its field of activity excluding expenditure on administration.

Validity of FCRA registration

Once FCRA registration is granted, it is valid for a period of 5 years. An application for renewal of FCRA registration can be made 6 months prior to the date of expiry, to keep the registration valid.
